Flames Shaking Things Up The Calgary Flames had a high flying start to the season, but the offence has slowed in the last month so the GM has gone out to seek more goal scoring. The Flames first swapped Owen Tippett for Artmei Panarin from the Minnesota Wild, Panarin is a pure sniper who should fit in well on the Flames second lineup. The next deal was with the New York Rangers, for Eeli Tolvanen in exchange for Kieffer Bellows. The Flames really gave up a 2way player in Bellows for a more offensive guy in Tolvanen who should add a much needed offensive spike for this team. The Flames have maintained their division lead and continue to spread out the gap, but the Flames need to string a few more wins together to be able to perhaps widen the gap. The Flames are currently boasting a very balanced roster, but with the two recent transactions the Flames got faster and more talented offensively. Both Tolvanen and Panarin will be making their Calgary Flames debuts today as the Flames look to continue through the season. Overall the Flames look poised for another strong season, and perhaps another division title, but with the season about 40% over there is a lot of runway left. Hope to see you at the Dome! Flames Have 3-0 Week This week put an end to win the losing and winning ways, as the team just won all 3 games they skated in this week. The Calgary Flames made two separate deals to help add to the scoring need, and it paid off right away as Panarin seems to fit like a glove with Monahan and Raymond giving the Flames a more lethal scoring combination. Artemi played well as well as Eeli Tolvanen, but the big guy up front Monahan carried the bulk of the share leading the Flames to victories over Detroit, Vancouver and Edmonton. The Flames seem to be a versatile team that is more able to keep up with anyone scoring in PTPHL, the team is poised for another run. Like last season backtrack has gone out and made two trades, nothing to the level of that Dahlin trade, but still the shuffling of the deck seems to have started, or perhaps it has ended, it is hard to get a read on BT at times. The Flames look like a team with few holes a strong core long term and also some impact players. All in all the Flames find themselves leading the divsion and 2nd in the western conference behind the Winnipeg Jets, who once again have been Calgary's biggest rival in the playoffs. Hope to see you at the Dome! CALGMP: 24+8=32
